Profession Loses Renowned Figure

Stanley J. Behrman, DMD, former Professor of Surgery and Chief of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center, and prominent New York surgeon, passed away comfortably on January 30th after a short battle with colon cancer. Dr. Behrman was a graduate of New York University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry, a Past-President of the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and received Committeeman of the Year honors from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is remembered by his former colleagues and residents for his 55 years of clinical and academic excellence. During his tenure as Chief, his ability to teach, innovate, and improve facial jaw surgery led to significant advances in the Specialty. His legacy is carried on by the generations of surgeons he trained, and the patients he helped.
