Published on: June 24th, 2013

The NYS Department of Health (DOH) has released their proposed regulations to create a Prescription Monitoring Program that requires practitioners (including OMSs) to consult a prescription registry before they prescribe any controlled substance listed as schedule II, III, or IV.  The DOH reference page for these regulations can be found HERE, including how to establish an HCS account.  If you have questions on your HCS account, you can call 866-529-1890 and if you have questions on the prescription monitoring system, you can call DOH at  866-811-7957.   The new requirement goes into effect August 27, 2013.
