There are additional requirements for members of NYSSOMS and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons who administer moderate sedation or greater in their offices. These NYSSOMS members are required to undergo an on-site office anesthesia evaluation every five years in order to remain in good standing. These evaluations are performed by colleagues and include extensive reviews of patient records, office equipment, staff qualifications, drug inventory, and emergency procedures. This on-site evaluation helps ensure continued compliance with professional and regulatory standards for the delivery of anesthesia.
